Depression Comix is wonderful and everyone should read it. <3 It has several different characters through which the comic explores the ways depression and mental health issues make life just really really complicated.
This is actually the first time I do a guest comic/fanart thing for anything. That is how awesome Depression Comix is. And I really enjoyed doing this.
In case you don’t know what is going on: the dark haired girl (satellite character 7) is in a relationship with a girl who struggles with depression (depressed character 2). For example here and here. And the smile-on-a-paper -thing is a thing.
Like Satellite Characters 2 and 7, I’m in a relationship with someone who suffers from depression (and while I try to be supportive and understanding like 7, I’m sometimes more like 2 :C ). At times it has come as a shock how people react or talk to me about my fiance in a way that forces me to get on the defensive, when I’d actually like to vent/get some support. It has a way to basically make me dishonest about how things are with us.
Thinking about all this made me remember the “comfort IN, dump OUT" thing, and it is very applicable here, as it is everywhere.
